1. Name

The club is called Ridgeway Gardening Club (the Club).

2. Purpose

  • To encourage interest and enjoyment of gardening in the local community.
  • To provide talks, demonstrations, visits and social events for members and guests.
  • To enable members to share knowledge, plants and practical gardening help in a friendly environment.

3. Membership

  • Membership is open to anyone with an interest in gardening.
  • Members are expected to behave respectfully and help maintain a welcoming atmosphere.
  • The annual subscription amount is set by the Committee and confirmed at the AGM where appropriate.

4. Meetings

  • The Club normally meets monthly, with additional events arranged from time to time.
  • Guests may attend meetings at a guest rate set by the Committee.
  • An Annual General Meeting (AGM) is held once per year.

5. Committee and officers

  • The Club is managed by a Committee of volunteers.
  • Typical officer roles include Chair, Secretary and Treasurer (and others as needed).
  • Committee members are elected or appointed in line with the Club’s agreed processes.

6. Finance

  • Club funds are used for the benefit of the Club, including hall hire, speakers, materials and activities.
  • The Treasurer keeps simple accounts and reports to members as required.
  • The Club is not-for-profit. Any surplus is used to support future Club activities.

7. Safety and conduct

  • Members and guests should take reasonable care during meetings, visits and activities.
  • Any concerns about behaviour, safety, or welfare should be raised with a Committee member.

8. Data protection

The Club handles personal data in line with its Privacy Notice.

9. Changes to the constitution

  • Changes may be proposed by the Committee or members.
  • Proposed changes should be shared with members before the meeting where they will be discussed.
  • Any change is agreed according to the Club’s decision-making process (normally at an AGM or a properly convened meeting).
